HOW TO SELECT , BUY,VINTAGE AND ANTIQUE FRENCH PURE LINENS OR HEMP SHEETS

Hello,

I would like to point out the colour of the linens we picked and why.

Natural ,unused Linen come in yellow, beige, pale straw, light brown colour, and sometimes white for Le fil quality etc...but it is rare.

Why selecting fabric and textile in their original colour, unbleached.cause for us it prove the linen is in exceptional condition and that all his qualities were well kept.

It also guarantee us the linen will weight a minimum of 3,9 LBS ,that it has not been washed aggressively by someone during years, that it was not sent to a dry cleaner who used chemical to clean it and they often end up feeling like polyester sheets.

They won't  feel cool to the touch ,they won't be resilient,,so it is hope to you ,if you want a pure original linen or something that used to be one!,Linens are very strong and solid if proper care is given.

So I will advice you to ask the weight of the linen you are purchasing, this in many cases will give you a good idea of what's left inside,if a large and long linen weight only  3 lbs ( for example I won't buy a linen who weight 3 lbs) ,there is strong chances it will feel like cotton or that the

Linen has lost most of his qualities,or that some thinning will appear shortly, not sure in all cases cause some people really care for them and wash them well, but most of them don't,that is why we like to sell and set up buy it now for some very hard to find and rare merchandise .We  have also seen 4-5 lbs Linen with thinnings too.

We drive a lot for that purpose.I rarely set up bid as I don't want sell a  metis sheet ( a linen and cotton mixed ) for more than $150...

We picked  5-10 % of what's left,we rarely buy Linens by set to avoid selling articles we don't like ,so we hardly select them.

I hope this will be helpful and that you will appreciate the help we can be in choosing your seller and vintage linens.

Don't be misleaded by the fake "antique"  Linen /hemp roll offered on sale now ,that seems an homespun weave but is not vintage or antique at all,and do not have 10% of the quality of an antique french fabric come with, these fake fabrics are made in eastern Europe by I don't know who! (these fabrics are not resilient, they are not strong ,they have no character and drapes like a spongious cotton, often made with  stripes  never been seen in the past anywhere?...

1/ See the shiny appearence on this sheet Ebay listing (all RT series) #    http://search.stores.ebay.com/VintageCo-French-Store-Online_rt_W0QQfciZ15QQfclZ4QQfsnZVintageCoQ20FrenchQ20StoreQ20OnlineQQfsooZ2QQfsopZ3QQsaselZ15376054QQsofpZ0

,it is the Linen oil,who help to conserve the sheet for so many years,it happen often with unused unbleached fabric.

2/ How soft pure linen can be

3/ The quality we often have the chance to find and carry "Fleur bleue"

We won't be able to make a pure linen quality as good as in the past, the oxygen being 20% less in the air, even the best organic plant won't carry the quality we find in the past, and yes due to the linen oil preserving so well these fabrics and their properties, our linen and pure linen will really last longer than new fabrics, they are not comparable with new pure linen

 made nowadays.

Have a nice summer

Sincerely,

P. E. M. Vintageco .
